Field Day 2012

work

The objective of Field Day is to work as many stations as possible on most bands in a 24 hour period. It is to encourage operators to learn to operate in conditions they are unfamiliar with and in situations they may one day find themself in. The use of "off-grid" power is encouraged. In 2011, we had stations operating on battery and solar power. We used phone as well as CW to make contacts. It was a group effort that was a lot of fun. The club made over 500 contacts in nearly all 50 states!

This year, we didn't make quite as many contacts. However, we all had a lot of fun. Again, we operated CW and phone on battery power. Most of the contacts were made by a 12 year old and a 15 year old, both licensed less than 2 years. The club is already planning what needs to be done to make Field Day 2013 more successful than our last.
